Berea College was founded in 1855 by John G. Fee. We were the first inter-racial and co-educational college in the South. The vision of the school was to provide an affordable education to students of high potential but limited financial means. Those early values shaped Berea's future, and today, all students attending Berea College receive a 4-year tuition scholarship. Berea College is one of 8 labor colleges in the nation. Every student holds a position on campus, working between 10 and 15 hours a week.
The Visitor Center & Shoppe is operated by students and is a perfect experiential learning that enhances their classroom work.
Your purchases at our store help to ensure that the mission of Berea College continues long into the future.
If you get a chance to visit Berea, please stop by our store. We offer free tours of the college campus and craft industry and provide craft demonstrations by students throughout the day. The Berea College Visitor Center & Shoppe is the official source of BC college gear as well as hand-made student crafts.
