These brooms make a powerful statement about the skills our students develop while at work.
The fantail or “Turkey-Wing” pattern can be seen in the work of traditional Appalachian and indigenous artisans: using this technique our students make a small Whisk broom with a beautifully woven handle and braided detail, (designed by student Allison Dallman and available in natural or Multi), and the beautifully colored Hearthsweep with a fully braided handle.
All hand-made craft item colors may vary a little from the color you see on your computer screen or in the catalog. Each piece is hand-made and color variations may occur.

I love the look and the bristles are soft enough that it really does a nice job sweeping around the stove. Yes, I actually do use it at the “hearth” in spite of its cost and beauty. It hangs on the wall looking beautiful when not in use.

The Hearthsweep Broom is beautiful. I’ll be installing it over a walnut mantle. I’ll be back later for more of your great products. I was aware of Berea as many years ago I worked with a gentleman who graduated from there and somehow you all were always in the back of my mind.

Beautiful! I wish that I were not giving it as a gift so could keep it for myself.

This was purchased, along with the multi-colored Whisk broom as a gift. It's now hanging in a place of honor where we can see and enjoy it daily. We're still trying to figure out how cleverly the maker hid the ending of the wire. Truly a unique craft!
